Asia Pacific Society of Infection Control (APSIC 2026)

The 12th International Congress of the Asia Pacific Society of Infection Control (APSIC 2026) was successfully held from 30 July to 2 August 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Organised by the Malaysian Society of Infectious Diseases and Chemotherapy (MSIDC), together with various collaborating societies, the congress brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, and infection prevention and control (IPC) practitioners from across the Asia-Pacific region. The congress provided an important platform for the exchange of knowledge, research findings, and best practices in infection prevention and control (IPC) and antimicrobial stewardship (AMS).

MyICID was proud to collaborate with MSIDC in supporting APSIC 2026 and contributing to its scientific programme. The congress reflected a shared commitment to advancing evidence-based IPC practices, strengthening professional collaboration, and promoting excellence in patient safety and healthcare quality. Many MyICID members played important roles in the congress, serving on the organising committee and contributing as speakers, session chairpersons, and moderators.

As part of its contribution to the congress, MyICID organised a sponsored Meet the Expert session entitled “Rapid Fire: Myth Busting in IPC” on 1 August 2026. The session featured Dr Tan Seow Yen, an Infectious Diseases physician from Changi General Hospital, Singapore. Through practical and evidence-based discussions, the interactive session addressed common misconceptions, long-standing practices, and frequently debated issues in IPC. Participants were encouraged to challenge outdated assumptions and translate current evidence into effective, real-world IPC practices.
